Ms. Monice Lillie
Ms. Lillie is a proud native of Gary, Indiana and 1972 graduate of West Side High School. She has worked in the field of special education for over 30 years, serving as a classroom and lead teacher, case manager, supervisor, and interim director. Ms. Lillie earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1976 from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana and two Master of Science Degrees in Corrections & Criminal Justice-Juvenile Justice and Special Education from Chicago State University. Ms. Lillie is the mother of three sons and grandmother of seven granddaughters and two grandsons.
Ms. Lillie states that she has been blessed to work in a career that God planned for her and in those 30 years she has not had even one day of regret. Her most satisfying moments are when former students return to school or see her in the neighborhood and thank her for the positive impact she had on their lives. Ms. Lillie’s education philosophy is that we must have high academic and behavioral expectations for EVERY student; even those with disabilities. She states that she is humbled and excited to begin serving as Director of Special Education for Theodore Roosevelt College and Career Academy.
